Thinking of redecorating? The Modernism Show & Sale is a celebration of mid-century modern design, architecture and culture that takes place Feb. 14-24 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. It coincides with Modernism Week, a city-wide celebration that takes in a wide variety of tours and activities.
The show has become a signature event in the art and interior decoration communities, attracting shoppers from all over the world.
The modernism design aesthetic originated in the 1940s, ’50s, and’60s, and was put on the map by communities like Palm Springs, where casual elegance was the lifestyle. It is typified by clean, simple lines and came to be closely identified with desert living.
Modernism Week is filled with a variety of events including architectural tours, films, lectures, an architectural symposium, educational events, and parties in cool mid-century modern homes. For a full schedule of events and pricing, visit the ModernismWeek.com website and click on the Events tab.
Funds raised by the tours and special events go toward the Modernism Week scholarship fund for local high school students continuing their college education in a design field.
The Palm Springs Convention Center is located at 277 North Avenida Caballeros. Call 760-219-4599 for further information.
